This announcement is regarding the house elections.

1. The House Election for Captain and Vice-Captains will be conducted on Thursday, 31 July 2008.

2. On thursday morning, the voting will take place immediately after flag raising ceremony. Pupils of Sec 2, sec 3, and sec 4 classes please line up according to the following order at the parade square: Buckle, Hadley, Richardson, Tarbet, Waddle.

3. you will be given two voting slips:

- on one of the slips you will vote for your house captain from among the current sec 3 nominees of your house NOTE: The nominee with the second highest number of votes will the Vice-capt 1.

- on the other slip you will vote for your vice captains 2 & 3 from among the current sec 2 nominees of your house. NOTE: nominee with second highest number of votes will be vice-capt 3.

4. get to know your house nominees by reading their write ups at the foyer or you can view them giving their speech on the TV at the foyer or canteen or catch them making their rounds during their walk-about or meet-the-house sessions as part of their campaigning strategy.

NOTE:

Put a clear and big X in the box next to the name of the nominees you want to vote for. Unclear or defaced votes will be rejected.

Physical Fitness Test RETEST

And also, the PFT retest dates are 25 July and 1 Aug (Fridays)

All pupils who need to do the retest must report in their PE attire on 25 July, 1.30pm at the Hall

Pupils will attempt their weakest station first during the retest.

Those who cannot make it for the retest on 25 July (medical reasons or sch competition only) are to inform their PE teachers before 24 July, Thurs and hand them the relevant medical certificates or letters

Those who can only come for ONE Fri retest session (due to medical reasons or sch competition only) must be prepared to do their 5 items + 2.4km run in that one session.

Note: The next PE lesson, we will be starting on the 3rd Module - sport climbing. Meet at Mini-Amphi. BE PUNCTUAL-WE HAVE LOTS TO DO...

These are the guidelines:

• Minimum 5 slides, maximum 10 (file size should not exceed 2 megabytes)
• 1st slide should indicate a short project title, name of the VWO and names of team members and mentors
• succeeding slides should contain GOOD PHOTOS WITH CAPTIONS of team members, ESP. STUDENTS IN ACTION (if any)
• file should also contain in clear text, the team's greatest contributions and learning points/reflections from the service experience

19th July is quite busy day.

1st: There is Candenza

2nd: Our school will be hosting the FPS in the school compound and it is a competition. If you do not want to stay back for a mass clean up, please try and keep the classroom clean.

3rd: I am in need of 2 helpers for RHD setup. If you are free from 2-4pm on that day, I would glady appreciate it if you would volunteer yourselves. Its not very fair that always the same few people have to do the jobs for the class all the time. So PLEASE do... Or I will come and interrogate each and everyone of you and I mean it. *sorry I didn't mean it as a threat. but I have noticed a few things too :D *

As you guys know, I have given out the envelopes for the Community Chest - Youth Day Appeal 2008 Donations

1. Students are to place in the envelopes any cash or cheque donations made payable to Community Chest – Youth Day Appeal 2008. Envelopes must then be sealed.
2. Students are to fill-in their particulars on the envelopes and return them to their Form or CLE teachers during contact time on 22 July (Tuesday).
3. Students are NOT to use the envelopes for any public or door-to-door collection.

Collected funds will go towards supporting services that care for children with special needs, troubled families, persons with disabilities and the destitute elderly in our community.

Please do not lose the envelopes and please bring it back to class as soon as possible. Thank You.

Dear all supporters, here's the UPDATED (as of 7 July 3pm) list of Swimming Inter-school supporters.
For tmrw (Tue), pls change out of your "be-yourself-clothes" into PE attire + culottes before boarding the bus to Singapore Sports School to support the swimmers. Reason being that only school-attired pupils can enter the venue - for security reasons.

The following is a letter from Mr Ng,

Dear Class,

From next Tues, (8th July) onwards, we will be having 2 girls coming to the front of the class and share with the class on the whiteboard one word or phrase. It can be anythingthat you come across in a novel, newspaper article, a magazine or in a song.

For example, you come across tgus word "genocide" in a newspaper article, you look it up and then share with the class.
Again, maybe you were listening to a song, "Bed of Roses" by Bon Jovi and you find this phrase in the lyrics "bird on the wire". You look it up and then share the meaning of this phrase with the class.

It is essential that you share how the word or phrase can be used in a sentence or in a context.

On Tuesday, we will have register number 1 and 2 to share with the class and next lesson we will have register number 3 and 4 and so on. In roughly 18 days, the cycle repeats itself.
