Singapore Mathematical Olympiad 2008 (SMO 2008) The Singapore Mathematical Society will be holding its annual Mathematical Olympiads as follows:


• SMO 2008 (Junior Section): For students who were born on or after 2 January 1994
Date: 27 May 2008 (Tuesday)
Time: 9.30 am - 12.00 noon
Venue: RGSS Norris Hall


• SMO 2008 (Senior Section): For students who were born on or after 2 January 1992
Date: 27 May 2008 (Tuesday)

• SMO 2008 (Open Section): Open to all secondary and pre-university students.

Objective:The objective of these competitions is to test the ingenuity and problem-solving ability of the participants and to discover and encourage mathematical talents in secondary schools in Singapore.


Registration is on Inet Students Portal under Survey Singapore Mathematical Olympiad. There is no restriction on the number of competitions each student may take part in since senior and open categories of the competition fall on different dates. It is compulsory for RA Math pupils and ALL pupils training on Saturday mornings to take part in at least 1 competition.
Registration fees are $8.00 for each category. If you are taking in both categories, the fees are $16. The school will only subsidise $8 for each Math Society member. Please inform your Math rep. if you are a member.

When school reopens, please make payment to your math reps. who will in turn submit the class list and money to the finance department.


Closing Date:
• Registration closes on 26 March 2008. Late applications and changes after this date will not be processed.


• All payments must reach the finance department latest on 28 March 2008. Registration will be confirmed upon receipt of payment.
